Tooting to the trot

Date of issue: 6 July 2010

The St George’s healthcare community hosted the Tooting Trot and Family Running Festival last weekend. Set in the leafy and spacious grounds of Springfield Hospital, the festival comprised a 5k for adults, a 1k for children and a range of family entertainment.

The event was attended by over 100 runners, with many families taking part as well. Sadiq Khan, MP for Tooting, started the races and said: “It was an honour to open and run an extremely hot 'Tooting Trot' - a 5km charity 'fun run' at Springfield Hospital. I just missed my target time of 25 minutes, but I'm choosing to blame the weather!”

The event was hosted by St George’s Hospital Charity and South West London and St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust, a collaboration that they hope will be repeated.
